Ellicott City

Ellicott City is the county seat of Howard County and one of the most historic communities in Maryland. Founded in 1772 as a mill town along the Patapsco River, its iconic Main Street — lined with stone and brick buildings housing independent shops, restaurants, and galleries — is one of the most photographed streets in the state. The town is steeped in history, home to the oldest surviving railroad station in America (the B&O Railroad Station, built in 1830) and numerous structures dating to the 18th and 19th centuries.

Beyond the historic district, Ellicott City has grown into a thriving residential community with a wide variety of housing options. Older neighborhoods feature charming colonials and split-levels on wooded lots, while newer developments offer modern townhomes and luxury single-family homes.
