Bob Novak: Hi I’m Bob Novak. We’re here at historic Savage Mill in Howard County. Welcome to Red Bridge Studios. We do all kinds of recording. Not just rock bands, singer, song writer. We’ve actually recorded many opera singers here. We’ve recorded Jazz, Classical Piano, Blue Grass, Country. We’ve done it all.

Terry Eberhardt: So it’s a big diverse range of folks from elementary through professional singers. We get a lot of high school kids that are getting ready for college auditions. College students that are in between college and pre-professionals. And then we have some professional singers that come in as well. A very wide range of stuff that happens here instructionally.

Bob Novak: The vibe that we wanted to create for this studio, in the beginning it had less to do about the vibe and more to do about the acoustics of the space. So we were very interested in having a space that was perfect for acoustics for any kind of musical style. So we started with gutting the place. And then slowly we started adding different textures. So on one wall we would have just wood with slats in it to absorb the sound and reflect the sound. Another wall we had just one inch tile of varying depths that would help reflect the sound differently. The roof we constructed out of old hand hone oak. All these different textures created the sounds that we were looking for but also ended up creating a really cool vibe in the studio that gives it the look that it has.

Tom Holtz: I do a lot of freelancing, playing jazz, Dixieland, polka band scene and Oktoberfest, Bulkin Band.

Stephanie Lange: The first thing that they feel when they come in is that they feel very comfortable. And they just love how warm and welcoming the space is and warm and welcoming and all the people who work here are, and they just have a lot of fun. And a lot of the kids just come and say they look forward to this every week that they get to do something that they really love and perfect their talent and their gift.
