At BYC|Yoga 26 (Be Your Cure Yoga) it is believed that a regular yoga practice is a journey that can change your body, change your mind, and change your life. BYC stands for “Be Your Cure” because yoga helps practitioners use their own bodies for preventative health and to achieve a peaceful existence. Kat Kelley-Chung opened the Columbia studio in 2007, a culmination of years of dreaming, planning, and yoga practice. As the first studio in the area to teach and practice Bikram’s Hot Yoga, the studio has since evolved beyond the standard 26 poses to also include Flow classes and other types of practices, but still with the belief in the therapeutic nature of a heated room. The heat allows the body to open up into postures, it promotes flexibility, and aids in detoxification. BYC|Yoga 26 has created an environment that is peaceful and meditative, where students can work on themselves in a therapeutic space without judgment or criticism.
